IVGSL GAME Rules

Only 4 coaches are allowed on the Field/Dugout, 1 must be female.  All coaches must be registered and background checked through IVGSL.  Any non-registered coach seen on the field at any time will result in a forfeit.  Coach identification must be visibile at all times.

Managers and coaches are responsible for the team, staff and fans both on and off the field.  No loud artificial noise-making devices will be allowed on or near the playing field.  Unruly behavior, vandalism, verbal harassment of players, umpires, destruction of property or similar activities will not be tolerated.  Any improper conduct during games or anywhere on the premises may result in a forfeit.

Any manager, coaches, player or parents ejected from a game shall remain ejected for the remainder of the game.  Upon ejection the individual must leave the vicinity of the field.  All managers are responsible for their coaches, players and parents.

No music during games or between innings.

The home team must provide a scorekeeper and will be the official scorekeeper.

No infield practice will be allowed before games.

TO BEGIN A GAME:

Teams can begin a game with a minimum of seven of their team's playswers present, regardless of how many are on the lineup.

No automatic outs will be assessed for the eight and/or ninth players.  

PICK-UP PLAYERS (Substitutes)

Teams can pick up players within their division only.

Teams will need 7 of their team's players and can pick up an 8th and/or 9th player.  

Pick-up players will need to bat last in the ineup and play outfield the entire game.  

AUTOMATIC OUTS

If any player is not able to take thier turn at bat for ANY REASON, an out will be assessed and the player MAY NOT return to the game.  

An out will be assessed for each time the players spot in the lineup is due up to bat.

EXCEPTION for 6U only - An out will be assessed for any batter not able to take their turn at bat, HOWEVER the player MAY return to the game. 

All players must be in the batting line up and must play a minimum of 2 full innings on defense.  Failure to comply will result in a forfeit. 

A courtesy runner may be used for the pitcher and catcher per USA rules if batting nine.  If batting around, the courtesy runner must be the last recorded out. 

Both teams must sign official score card.  If not signed the score card provided to the site Board Member by the umpire will be used as the official score card.  The home team is responsible for filling out the scorecard properly and providing it to the umpire.  Failure to comply will result in a forfeit.

All registered players must register and play in their age eligible division. (Players are not allowed to play up/down in divisions.)

Game Inning Limits/Runs: (games may end in tie)

***RULES FOR 6U Only***

1. Each batter will only receive 4 pitches to hit. After the 4th pitch, if not hit, the at bat will result in a strikeout (If a foul ball occurs the batter will continue batting until they get a hit or a strike).

2. If 3 outs occur, any remaining base runners will be removed and a second set of 3 outs will be given. 

3. Batters/runners can advance maximum 2 bases per batted ball in play. 

4. All players present will be in the line-up.  Teams will bat through the lineup. Any player(s) who cannot take their At Bat will be called out but CAN return to the game (6U only). 

5. Only one coach will be allowed on the field during defense. The coach CANNOT obstruct any ball in play. If a coach obstructs during a game obstruction rule will apply and the coach will be removed from the field of play and the team can no longer have a coach on the field for the remaining of the game. 

6. If the coach pitching is hit by the ball, dead ball will be called and we will replay the pitch.

7. Each game will consist of FOUR full innings. Games can end in a tie during the regular season.

8. Each team must provide a score keeper and update the Umpire of the score after every inning. Blue Card must be filled out and turned into the umpire PRIOR to the game starting. 

9. Pitching distance will be 15ft from home plate. 

6U Playoffs & Championship Game Tiebreaker

If game is tied after 4 complete innings, game will continue with NO Automatic Runners on base to begin the inning, and only 1 set of 3 outs per at bat.  Game will continue in this format until a winner is declared.

Championship week seeding will be based on team records/winning percentage.  Tie breakers

IMPORTANT INFORMATION 

-Highest seeded team will be home team throughout playoffs.  Teams will occupy their respective dugouts. No coin flip!

-All teams will play minimum 2 games during playoffs.  Brackets can be found on Tourney Machine.

-Championship Game is ONE game, Winner Take All!  

-Substitutes from other teams are NOT allowed.  Teams will be able to start/play with 7 players.  

-Internation Tie-Breaker Rule is in effect, in the event of a tie during Playoff/Championship Games.

Protests: All protests must be declared at the moment the incident occurs and not after the final outcome of the game has already been decided.  All protests will be reviewed by the IVGSL board.  Board decisions regarding protests are final.
